아산정책연구원 외교정책센터는 2013년 11월 19일(화) 미국 외교정책포커스 소장 John Feffer를 초청하여 “Why North Korea 2013 Is Not East Germany 1989″라는 주제로 아산도시락시리즈를 개최하였습니다.

이번 도시락시리즈에서는 1989년 동독과 2013년 북한을 비교하고 동유럽의 경험을 통해 우리가 배울 수 있는 점들을 분석하였습니다.

John Feffer is the co-director of Foreign Policy in Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC. Mr. Feffer is also a senior associate at the Asia Institute in Seoul, Korea. He was a Pantech Fellow at Stanford University, where he focused on the impact of globalization on Korean food and agriculture. He was also an Open Society Foundation Fellow in 2012-13, during which he conducted interviews in Eastern Europe with many of the same activists, policymakers and academics that met in the region in 1989-90. He has travelled to North Korea three times and to South Korea more than three dozen times. He has written numerous articles and essays about Korea that have been published by the Korean Economic Institute, the International Herald Tribune, The Washington Post, The Nation, World Policy Journal, and The American Prospect. He is the author of several books, including North Korea, South Korea: U.S. Policy at a Time of Crisis (Seven Stories, 2003), and the editor of The Future of U.S.-Korean Relations: Imbalance of Power (Routledge, 2006).
