— 60th Anniversary of Korea-Japan Normalization of Diplomatic Relations: ‘60 Years of Korea-Japan Relations: Retrospect and Prospect’ —

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the delegation from the Asan Institute for Policy Studies participated in the “2025 Korea-Japan Policy Dialogue” held in Tokyo, Japan. Under the theme “60 Years of Korea-Japan Relations: Retrospect and Prospect,” the dialogue was jointly organized by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies (Republic of Korea), the Asia Pacific Initiative (API), and the International House of Japan.

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, foreign and security policy experts from both countries reflected on the path the two nations have taken and exchanged in-depth views on:

▲ Alliance relations in the Trump 2.0 era,

▲ Korea-Japan and Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation in response to North Korea’s nuclear threat, and

▲ Challenges and prospects for Korea-Japan cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
