On Tuesday, February 26, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, in collaboration with Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KAIS), hosted a lecture titled, “Visualizing the Unseen: 19th Century Atomic Models and the Realism Debate” with Prof. Chang Hasok , the Hans Rausing Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge.

Prof. Hasok Chang is the Hans Rausing Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge and also the President of the British Society for the History of Science. Previously, he was a research fellow at the Department of Physics at Harvard University and was a professor of philosophy of science at University College London from 1995 to 2010. His publications include Inventing Temperature, for which he was awarded the 2006 Lakatos Award and Is Water H2O? Evidence, Realism and Pluralism (2010). Prof. Chang received his bachelor’s degree from the California Institute of Technology (1989), and his doctoral degree from Stanford University.
