On January 14, 2019, The Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a closed roundtable with 4 former members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Mr. Thomas J. Byrne, president of the Korea Society. Former Members of Congress include 1) The Honorable Peter Roskam (R-IL), 2) The Honorable Ben Chandler (D-KY), 3) The Honorable Claudia Tenney (R-NY), 4) The Honorable Jason Lewis (R-MN). The participants assessed the current situation in the Korean peninsula and reaffirmed the importance of the ROK-U.S. Alliance in this region. They also discussed about the upcoming U.S.-North Korea senior officials’ meeting and a possibility of having the second summit in the near future.
